To gently expand on stallzer's post. Please post a scan of the entire cover. The way to get the best information from the board is to supply the fullest information to the board. This stamp comes in many shades, which are very hard to ID based on the difference in scanners, monitors, etc., as has been explained in many posts. Likewise, scanning it with other stamps of known shade can be helpful.
Also, seeing the entire cover may reveal tangential factors of city, cancel date, address, etc., which rule-in or rule-out certain possibilities. Covers without an actual year date can often be narrowed down to a specific year or two by looking at all the features.
Add: The value of the vast majority of Scott 65's on cover is driven by the postal history and not the stamp. |

One thing for sure is that most rose pinks have a degree of rose, which can make it difficult to sort from the more common rose reds. Fortunately I have a very good collection of rose reds, and that makes it easier to ID the rose pinks.
So, a few things about this stamp; First, it is very pale. Second, it is very bright. Third, there is no noticeable "rose" hue.
This is what the old-timers used to call a "Brooklyn pink." The bright pale color is not an early shade. If we can see the entire cover I would bet a dollar to a doughnut it came from a New York borough. |

Richar, larger scans really help. As mentioned the value (if any) is in the postal history aspect. Here is a good example. If the stamp is removed from this cover it's value is probably $1. On cover I'm not sure the exact value but certainly more than $5. IF you can post an image of this size it really helps us help you. |

Stallzer, a very nice rose pink on cover. Worth a bit more than the $12.50 some dealer marked it back in the day. :-) |
