Interesting, but there seems to be some fake news in this article. Perforated U. S. postage stamps first appeared in 1857, not 1875. Perhaps a transposition of the 5 and 7 in the article? I would have objected when the article was published but I was only 6 months old and not yet a collector - lol! |

Rhett lol I have never read it but will.I found this in a postmasters collection, never seen since ww2, I have articles and letters of his, He was over seas doing his job as a post master. |

It actually said that the first perforated "labels" appeared on Feb 24, 1875. I agree that if he meant 'stamps', then 57 would be ok. The EKU for perforated stamps is Feb 28, 1857. |
