I make it something like Stanley Gibbons #90a Blackish purple 1902 P14 However, I read that the "specimen" was punctured CV £900 (1993) Caveat: Newbie for Rhodesia , perhaps reading catalogue incorrectly. I believe yours is Type 12.
In SG Information and Guidelines : Specimens. I confirm perf=punctured I do not see any seriffed "specimen" types, in the designs offered on the page. If mixed punctured and overprinted, their code was "Optd/perf"
From the scan I think that it is the SG90 greyish red-purple rather than the 90a blackish purple, checking the perforations should help differentiate. Type 12 is the drawing number which also applies to the £1, £2,£5 etc.
Specimens were issued perforated as per SG as well as a black italic diagonal overprint like yours. If I recall correctly the black italic overprint were from presentation packs and scarcer than the perforated specimens. The SG £900 catalogue price is for the perforated specimen set of 10 values Clive

Right you are, thanks Clive, for explanation. My catalogue appears to be a mid range catalogue between Specialised, and Simplified. Perhaps that's why the presentation packs not listed.
