The color and impressions of these 2 24c and 30c stamps look more like proofs to me . . .

What leads you to think that? Perfs look "iffy" to me.

Seems like it. Too sharp and colors too bright.

This doesn't look like a 150 year old stamp that went through the mail to me...

The "cancel" looks like it was applied some time last week, too.

Certainly with at least the 30c stamp, I had the same immediate reaction - that it looks too clean to be real. Paper too white, cancel too fresh, and so on.

Looks like the 24c sold for $453 and the 30c sold for $988. Someone is in for a rude awakening when they figure out what they actually have . . .

These are expensive lessons - I suspect many of us have been through something similar back in our earlier days. I know I have!

That is truly an expensive lesson. One must take a chance every now and then tho. I recently picked up a nice Sc #31 for the steep price of $9.00. I took a chance that the what appeared to be a rather ugly stamp in the listing was in fact merely just bad photography...and won! I've picked some losers too, but never for a steep price.

Personally, I stay far away from that dealer.

The 30 cent is likely a perforated india proof (121P3) with a cancel added. Here's a P4 proof and the same 121 I had posted on another thread. The used stamp has a cert.

If you compare the clarity of the impression on the P4 proof with the stamp, you will see a marked difference. Now, compare the P4 with the image Jim posted from the listing. This is entirely too crisp for production.

The more I look at that listing image, the more it appears to have been enhanced because it is too sharp even for a proof.

Your satisfaction is guaranteed, full refund if not as described. So the buyer is paying a 700$ red cancel;I don't see anything saying it's Genuine....

The stamp isn't even square. The left side is shorter than the right side. Definitely reperfed.

Stamp Truth,

If you don't mind me saying so, your comment above, in which you randomly disparage not only another board member here but also Mystic Stamps, for no discernible reason whatsoever, is more or less the classic definition of a "troll" comment.

Maybe rethink your comment(s) a bit before you post?

Or, are you, in fact, trolling?

Jim

Trolling? I'd vote yes.

Certainly passes the duck test. If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it is probably a duck.
