Awaiting specialists replies. However, sprinting to my postmarks catalogue...not seen that one before. Lovely. |

It is very nicely centered to say the least with an interesting cancellation. Even if it is a fake it would still look nice in my collection, my 1/ is a little rough. |

From the scan, it looks genuine to me; I'll stick my neck out here so someone can come along and chop off my head. Genuine overprint is typographed; the forgeries seem to be always litho or rubberstamped and quite inaccurate for the most part. Forgers usually screw up the stops/periods and these look/are correct.
The lighting messes with what the stamp actually looks like. You probably are aware that the greens and purples of the issue that the underlying stamp comes from is fugitive, so price critically depends on how strong that dull green is. |

I'd agree with HB, here is an image of one from Siegel Auctions CV £1,900 sold for $200 $350 (with certificate) cert advised colour washed out to some degree. |

Many thanks to you Rod. A philatelic super slueth indeed! Great information. The color on the stamp is actually quite fresh but I could not capture it properly with my subpar photographic capabilities. I will either get this item certified or put it aside to look at on occasion. |

After I was transferred from Miami to London and before I was a dealer I collected GB Officials postal history, varieties & specimens and was lucky to have been mentored by Tony Wiseman: https://www.barrell.co.uk/products/84839If you're going to obtain a cert, I'd strongly recommend that you use the BPA or the Royal as both have access to reference material not available to the PF or the APS. There are numerous faked Official overprints, but to me, yours appears to be genunine and is a nice-looking example. Steve Taylor www.stephentaylor.co.uk |

Thank you Steve and Perf12. Always nice to see how helpful and knowledgeable the folks here are. I will send it off to the BPA and will share the results when it is returned. |

Nicely spotted P12, I originally "toggled" the two images, and failed to spot those.
Rog : Tip : Maybe next time you take an image, try a flat black background, the background in the original scan looks shiny, perhaps it is reflecting light that makes the image appear faded. Just a thought.

Good thought Rod. Soon I am purchasing a real scanner as opposed to fine photography with my Ipad. |

Quote: Soon I am purchasing a real scanner If its anything like my experience, your enjoyment of Philately will jump 100% It's often a wonder to see stamps up close and personal. I think Epson Perfection is the most widely used here. Don't forget our member "Postmaster GS" software "stamp fix" free or donation, for deskewing scans. |
