I just don't know what to say about this collection. I understand the drive to fill all the spaces in an album, but really?

I also don't understand why any dealer would even attempt to sell this in this state. Wow....

That was my thought when I saw a fairly new National album offered at auction "as is with all stamps misidentified" with only a couple dozen Washington Franklins in it. They were all misidentified as the big rarities, with nothing else in the album. I was told "it had to be sold" for whatever reason. It did sell for about the price of a used National album.

Jeebus. What a fustercluck. The $1 Trans-Missippi is virtually all of the value. The Newspaper/Official facsimiles, while not inherently valuable, are still collectible.

I love the hand inked Canal Zone and Guam overprints.

I Googled fustercluck. It says "a mess". I thought it was a fustered chicken.

I have seen some very over-hyped and overpriced lots from this seller, but this is a new low, in my opinion.

There was a handful of decent things but mostly it was painful to look through... I have bought a couple of singles from this seller with no issues but yes this is a new low for a so called ebay store.

I'm not sure the buyer is going to be really happy having shelled out $400+ for this lot.

I hope for the buyer that they find enough real stamps in this mess to justify what they bid on it.

Thinking of it from a dealer point of view, I suspect this item is a bit annoying as well. Its probably not worth the time to spend separating the real stamps from the photos.

I wonder what will happen to the dross after the new owner gets it?

I'm speculating but I think Noblespirit is sometimes constrained by their consignors directions. They have those large Big Blue collections listed at astronomical prices, but a couple months ago they had a terrific Vol I collection listed and it had a very reasonable reserve. I put in a bid expecting "Reserve Not Met" but I ended up getting it at my opening bid. Maybe they underestimated the collection but I doubt it, I think the high priced collections are consignors dream prices.

Don, my prognostication is that the dross will likely be consigned to the circular file.

I viewed the whole collection and was impressed with it . Over the years I have been working on a Fakes and Forgeries collection of my own . This collections offers a lot of fakes and forgeries which would include a lot of contemporary issues that are not in published books on the subject and stuff not listed and shown on present day websites .

Buying this collection would give a researcher a one stop place to pick up a lot of material to work on ,I can see someone making a display of present day fakes that are floating around the internet and educate other philatelist of whats out there .

So to sum it up ---Nice educational material.
