A friend has an old Bulgarian pay cheque with this stamp on, marked 1932. I was wondering if anyone can help ID it?

A Bulgarian Revenue stamp, not listed in major Catalogues.
You may wish to Google ebay Bulgaria Revenue stamps, to see the plethora of designs.

Our member "MrPhilaRooms" may have a catalogue.

I have recently bought some of these. They can be found in the BULGARIA & ROMANIA REVENUES catalogue by J. Barefoot Ltd.

Would anyone know why they are also printed on the back?

Wow!
That's a first for me.
Rather astonishing, all I can think of, is as a security measure.

I can't think of any other reason, but it is rather weird. The backs are printed in 5 different colours dependent on value and some are fully printed and others masked off to form diamonds.

A rather ordinary looking revenue stamp has suddenly become more interesting.

This is a Revenue stamp from 1932 issue. It's a very common stamp with a small value and it was used mainly on documents ,for payd taxes for buying and selling property in mid 1930's.
