maybe you can try a better scan or perhaps macro photo. to me it seems to be a type III so 455 or 492.
even if it is type II, you would have to check for the watermark if it is a 454.

Another fun envelope - less attractive than the last one - but cool nonetheless.

I have doubts that this is even a coil stamp. It would never get a clean cert as one. Clearly it's been cut.

On this one, perhaps you may want to consider soaking the stamp off & checking its watermark...

The stamp is clearly a type III coil, thus can only be Scott 455 or 492, differing by watermark. It has been put on the envelope with an affixing machine (Mail-O-Mat, or similar) which is evident by the slightly diagonal knife cuts at left and right sides. In this case, the affixing machine damage to the right perfs renders the stamp with minimal value to most collectors. Any remaining value is in the entire intact cover - which is an interesting piece of early automobile memorabilia. Please resist soaking it and be satisfied with one of two Scott number possibilities, especially when it is almost certainly the later, cheaper variety.
