Rütgers Guido, manufacturer. * Koblenz, Rhineland-Palatinate (FRG), October 18, 1832; † Ybbs ad Donau (Lower Austria), November 14, 1892. graduate a merchant. Apprenticeship, but first became an actor. After a short stage career (first engagement Liegnitz/Legnica, Silesia, 1856) he worked in the first German impregnation institute founded by his father in 1847 in Neuss. After a successful long-term collaboration with his brother Julius R. (1830-1903), during which several impregnation plants and a tar products factory were set up in Berlin, R. decided in 1867 to move to Austria. to go Founded Austria's first wood impregnation plant in Angern (Lower Austria), which went into operation in 1868. Four more stable and numerous mobile impregnation facilities followed.He soon received a large order for impregnated wooden sleepers from the administration of the K. Ferdinandsnordbahn. R. received numerous privileges on wood drying and impregnation processes and was on the Wr. world expo (1873) awarded the Gold Medal of Progress. In 1872, R. developed a wooden pavement treated with creosote, which was laid for the first time on the Sophienbrücke in Vienna in 1873 and went down in building history as the "wooden stöckel pavement".
