I suppose some of you have already bought the new 2022 SG Concise catalogue. I have an old Stanley Gibbons Concise Catalogue and I plan to buy a new one.
Does it worth to wait for buying 2022 SG Concise? Are the catalogue prices updated in 2022 in comparison with 2021? Are there new information about the old UK stamps that are worth to wait a couple of months? My collection is mainly focused on Victoria and the four kings.
The last reason I'd buy ANY annual catalog for, are the prices. Why bother? Prices are out of date the minute of publication, you can't ever sell at those prices, and any dealer worth the title almost without exception sells for less, too. Save the £39.95
Furthermore, Stanley Gibbons is a special case because the "value" stated in the catalogue is the same as their retail price at 399 Strand. To obtain a present "value," for any stamp they have in stock, you can search their website rather than buy a catalogue. But those "values" only apply to premium examples sold at a High Street retail store.
You might consider buying the digital (PDF) version of the full standard Commonwealth, the version that runs 1840-1970. Not expensive at all in my opinion. I would not get one of the ripoff versions of much older catalogs - too dangerous and probably flawed.
