I suspect most grandfathers with something like this in their album have made arrangements for how to maintain or dispose of the stamps after they are gone. On a Facebook group recently I saw a guy start showing some above average classic US that he inherited. He is going to continue the collection which is nice to hear. |

Curious, what is the significance of the marginal marking, "C C" please That is the letter portion of the plate. Both letters and no's were imprinted on all the Columbian issues by the Am Banknote Co. Here, the plate is CC 107. For the Columbian $5, (245) the only plate used was DD 108. |

True, but neither Columbus nor Isabella are very popular people anymore. Responsibility for murder on a large scale will do that sometimes. |

The OP should save this image then around April 1 of next year post it along with an 'I found this, is it worth something?' Maybe threaten to use it to mail a package. |

First, tear off all of that extraneous paper around the stamps before putting them on the package. |

revcollector isn't far off the mark. By about the 1920s, there were so many being held by dealers that these were discount postage. |
