I had two Minkus albums collecting dust for over 40 years: a U.S. collection and a World Album. My wife
inherited upwards of 1,000 mostly U.S. postcards, about 30% of which have a stamp on them. The vintages are clustered: 1905-1910 (lots and lots of green 1-cent stamps); 1920-1930, 1950-1970. I'm seeking to liquidate all the above in a leisurely fashion. I'll be combing the forum for insight toward that end.
My U.S. collection is humble. It's a mix of used/unsued, most of which bear a retail price below $1. My "best" stamp is the 1923 red 24-cent airmail C6, mint, never hinged.
We also have every scrap of paper ephemera related to a Minnesota man's U.S. Army service in France during the First World War. He was a snare drummer in the 53 Infantry Regiment's Headquarters band. There are post cards, contact-print photos, maps, travel vouchers, coins, enlistment/discharge letters, and more. There's a real terse diary and a number of campaign ribbons indicating his participation in the battle of Meusse-Argonne.
I'm contemplating starting a collection of airplane stamps - any that are engraved and bear an inscription indicating the manufacturer and model number.
