Hullo all,

Any advice on storing/displaying items that you have to open in order to see the stamps?

e.g.

I was going to stick the booklets and stamp packs into stock pages but that seemed to defeat the whole interactivity of these items (which is why I liked them in the first place!). As for the folders, I've been putting them on the shelf with all the other stamp albums but I'm not sure if there's a better way to take care of them.

Any advice would be appreciated =)

to the family!

You've asked a great question. Unfortunately, I don't have a good answer for you. I'm sure someone else will though.

Hi Burblespork,
Welcome to the SCF and I hope you will go and introduce yourself on the New members thread

https://goscf.com/f/11

Regarding Booklets, album pages can be had for all types of Booklets,Packs and cards.
The Italian item in question and similar items would be difficult to display opened I fear ! I even had a problem for the Bicentennial USA Flag sheet until an American dealer kindly gave me a big enough album page unavailable in the UK !.
Most regular booklets can be stored opened or closed and pages are available from many companies for these. See your local dealer.
Prestige Booklets can only be stored closed without damage, unless you 'unstitch' the Booklet and display by page. I have unstitched my Old Glory Booklet and displayed each page in clear stocksheets so both sides can be viewed. This particular booklet makes for a very attractive lay-out this way.

If you open one of the pages and use a very sharp Japanese knife to carefully cut the stitching/binding, the rest of the pages will open quite easily. But be gentle.

and....

Thanks for all the welcomes and the advice!

I've always been a visually-driven tactile person, which doesn't always bode well for preservation. =/ But thanks for the intercept shield envelopes tip, spock1k.

The Old Glory booklet is quite a beauty. If I end up getting another copy I'll definitely unstitch it. I think for now, clear stocksheets are a great way to go.

Heading over to introduce myself now =)
