SC 315? Question About Extra Lines

I realize this is questionable as a 315 (not the question here),but looking the other way for now, I am wondering about the what look like 'alignment' lines in the upper left corner. Is this common for this design (whether it's a 304 or 315)?

Caper, the picture is awful small, but the lines look a bit like "Doctor's Blade" lines

A doctor blade is a device, usually a roller that removes left-over ink from the plate.

In rotogravure printing the doctor blade (from ductor blade) removes the excess ink from the smooth non-engraved portions of the image carrier and the land areas of the cell walls.



Doctor blade was taken from DUCTOR BLADE originally in the printing world.

Forgot to say..Most ductor blade oddities were vertical head to bottom, but I in my opinion am not sure what you got is a ductor blade cause.

Robert, I think the direction of the doctor blades depend on the direction the paper goes through the printer.
I am hoping the OP can give us a better scan of the variety

I had hoped the old scan I had would have worked, but I'm happy to make it easier.

It looks like ink pulls that I see on a lot of Canadian stamps.

Please note this is a flat plate printing, not rotary.
But I agree, this is a plate-wiping anomaly.

those are good images and they show it is a smear and not intentional lines nor cracks
