Yes that's disappointing when you see that. I've had successful transactions with stamp collectors from various Asian and South American countries as well as South Africa, Egypt and Israel. I've never bought or sold with Russia but I did buy a stamp that was sent from Latvia last year. It took 54 days to receive |

This ebayer is a stamp dealer, I would have expected stamp dealers to be more open to dealing with buyers all around the world. |

I'm 99.99% positive I've had no dealings with them.
Edit: Let's make it 100%, I had a look at what they sell and the prices they're asking. |

So what is the solution? Force all sellers to sell into every country? Are stamp sellers supposed to take more risk than other sellers? I do not understand this thread.

Asia is a huge continent comprising of many first world countries with first rate postal service. When you mention "risk", are you referring to the risk of mails getting lost or risk in dealing with Asian buyers? |

A seller only knows if they have had repeated issues with buyers receiving purchases from Country XYZ. There is no way to determine where the risk lies; only that they have had repeated losses. Don |

Point taken, and I can understand excluding specific countries, what I do not understand is the exclusion of entire continents. There are 48 countries in Asia alone. |

The exclusion of Singapore and Japan at the expense of say Afghanistan seems odd to me. Just an example though. I'd love to hear of anyone successfully transacting with a stamp collector in Afghanistan, I really would!! |

It appears he desires to sell mostly to English speaking countries; perhaps he has had communication issues with certain languages. Don |

If the seller is conversant in just English, I think he would do better trying to understand a Singaporean than a French. |

I have bought & sold stamps from every country. The 2 times I have lost purchases was Registered mail in the Roissy transit Zone(Paris); stolen. And 1 sale sent by Registered mail too Germany; stolen in the Frankfurt transit Zone. Sometimes lost things in the mail are closer to your home than you might think. |

My Insurance company "Shipsaver" from ebay excludes the following: Quote: Excluded countries The following countries are NOT covered by this insurance! B. Shipments sent to Afghanistan, Angola, Bolivia, Burma, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Republic of the Congo, Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Ivory Coast (Cote d'Ivoire), Liberia, Nigeria, North Korea, Paraguay, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela. Any location that would be in violation of any U.S. economic or trade sanctions including OFAC Restricted Countries. For shipments to Russian and other Commonwealth of Independent States countries (includes Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan) coverage ceases upon touchdown of the aircraft at the airport of destination or upon discharge from the overseas vessel at the destination discharge port. (This list is subject to change.) I try to match my excluded countries to this list. |

Perf12. I also have sold worldwide. I have has more rip-offs from USA "buyers" than any other country. Only 4 or 5 - but that's a lot really. |

Could be any number of reasons, all of them legitimate: 1. History of losses. For a period of time, I refused to ship to Italy and Germany due to excessive item not received claims from those 2 countries. 2. Third-party insurer exclusions as Ken references above. 3. Language barrier difficulties. About 8 years ago I had a spate of Chinese buyers sending me messages through ebay... in Chinese characters. I had no clue what they wanted and Google Translate in its fledgling state couldn't do anything with the messages. Also several buyers who had Chinese characters in their shipping addresses, which the shipping label system just choked on. Too much hassle to deal with for $5-10 sales, so I stopped shipping to China. At the end of the day it is every seller's right to choose where and to whom they wish to sell. |
