Came across this ebayer trying to flip a purchase for a quick buck. She won the bid for £150 on 27 Dec 2018 and has just posted a "buy it now" for the same stamp at £275. Nothing wrong with doing a flip, but I dislike sellers selling something that they do not yet have it in their hands. This makes her a rather dubious seller.

Actually, if nothing else, it makes them a very stupid seller. What if the item has undisclosed faults? What if the item from the original purchase never arrives... and you've sold the item?

Exactly. How is she to accurately state the condition of the stamp that she has yet to receive? I think there are easier ways to make money.

In any case, I passed on this stamp as there are traces of thinning at the back which I don't think she even realises.

Forgive me, but why can't she have it in hand?

Her listing for this stamp was on 29 Dec, her seller only started dispatching stamps a day or 2 after 27 Dec. Unless the mail was super express mail, I don't think she would have received the stamp in time to post her listing on 29 Dec.

She did not use her own image. She used the sellers image. She does not have it in hand.

Possibly. But if I sold an item for £150 on Thursday, 27 December, and was paid for it, the buyer would have it by Friday, 28 December using standard post.

Of course someone could message her tactfully pointing out her little game had been noticed. Or, maybe innocently asking if she indeed has the stamp in her possession. I just can't think of a way to do that without sounding accusatory.

Request an image of the back of the stamp. There isn't one in the listing.

She happened to be bidding on some of the items I was bidding, which was the only reason why I took notice of her activity. I would not have left her a chance with this 2d blue if I really wanted this stamp. Not about right or wrong, but it annoys me to know that these people are bidding to flip for a quick profit rather than bidding because they genuinely want the stamp in their collection.

Report the seller to ebay. Sellers are required to be in possession of items offered for sale.

Yes I understand that. I was trying to illustrate that this might not be the only string to her bow.
