Setting aside the "possible" questionable ethics of the specific event for a moment (i.e. possibly not being in possession of the item, using another members image without permission and etc.), I am struck by the absurdity of railing against those evil flippers.

I read numerous stories here how collectors make a big score on a lot, and flip the remainder for a profit. In addition, it seems to me that every collector who buys or sells on line, for whatever purpose, is in fact competing with dealers, and other collectors. It is a factor of the marketplace. The lines between dealers and collectors have been blurred from the old days, when that line was clear...

To me, flipping is an activity that has no negative feelings attached to it, by itself. We all engage in it, in one form or another, unless we have unlimited funds. It is a way to build our collection, or build our inventory for business, whatever the case may be.

John

Report the seller to ebay. Sellers are required to be in possession of items offered for sale.

Not true.

Reads like a philatelic version of "The Fox and the Grapes". We have all experienced the disappointment of being the underbidder.

It was "very fine" when she purchased it and now it is "superb" without being examined in person for faults. Hmmmmm

ebay will not do anything about this ,maybe just a cautionary note to the buyer/seller of the above stamp .

We all understand and ebay understands that of the thousands of sellers in the stamp section that 95% are resellers of items that they bought somewhere just to sell on ebay . Just think about this we have had 18 years of people selling their family stamp collections , cleaning out attics and basements and getting rid of their duplicates . Now we live in a world of resellers .

I think we live in a world of hundreds of buyers searching the ebay stamp section so they can resell it at a higher price . That's why old collections ,album pages and treasure boxes sell so well , almost everyone is looking for the ability to resell .

Don't chase her up, just wait til the end and snipe the item at your max and if you don't get it move on.

If you don't win the item you shouldn't worry about what she does with it.

She was stupid enough to enter an early high bid with days ahead. If she is really looking to resell whatever item she bids, I wonder why she would want to drive up the price for herself. She seems to be quite inexperienced.

In my ebay experience "she" could easily be a "he" and, though a good percentage of auctions are legitimate, anything could be going on.

Bid what it's worth to you, if you don't win then it wasn't meant to be, new fish swim by daily.
