I've been a lurker on this forums for years, but I finally pulled the trigger and made an account.
A little bit about myself: Like many, I began collecting at an early age, around 6. I was a decent collector (for a kid), but like many, stopped once I discovered girls as a teenager. Years later as an adult, I've dusted off the old album and have renewed an old interest.
What I collect: I'm fairly vanilla. I'm a U.S. collector most interested in early classics to stamps of the 70s and everywhere in between. I started with mint stamps of the 70s or so and have been working my way back down the Scott catalogue. I recently bought a nice 634A, have my eyes on the first souvenir sheet (630), and am hacking away through the Washington-Franklin series.
Level of expertise: I'm definitely not an expert, but I know enough to spot regumming, reperforation, and shady deals on
ebay. I'll probably ask for help from time to time for general advice and identification issues (at least until I get my hands on that elusive Paul Schmid book!)
What I hope to get from this forum: I'm hoping to tap into the seemingly vast depth of expertise and knowledge from the members here. I'm hoping for a positive community and aim to give back when I can!
