Picked a block of 4 R46's. This is the first time I've seen strong evidence of silk fibre in the front of the revenue stamp. Date is correct at 5/71. Toppan and Holland say that the R46 could be on silk paper. What do you think?
Sorry, arrows pointing to the supposed silk fibre is a little difficult to see.

This is silk, but it is not a block but a strip of four. Strips would normally be catalogued as two pairs plus perhaps a small premium depending on the specific stamp.

You can, but they are inexpensive stamps. A pair only cats about $13.

That's a good point. Still a pretty interesting "strip"!

Thanks.

As Bart mentions above, the distinction between a strip of 4 and block of 4 is an important one with respect to valuation. I see many "professional" sellers both online and at shows erroneously pricing strips as blocks. Strip of 4 = 2 pairs, strip of 5 = 2 pairs + single, etc.

Still, a very handsome strip. Don't know why, but it just sort of captivated me.

Thanks for the info ya'll.
