Thoughts On These Stamps From 1899 Imperial Stamp Album?

Hello,

I was wondering if the community here had any thoughts as to whether any of these U.S. stamps had any value? I believe they are mostly from 1890-1910. There are a number of stamps in the album from other countries as well, but these are just the ones from the U.S.

Yes, 1890's to around 1925. You have a mix of postage stamps and back of book stamps. Back of book is other than postage such as Parcel post, revenue, pre-stamped envelopes (The cut squares, Duck etc. The Army frank stamps are interesting. As far as value unless there is value in the Army frank stamps there really isn't much value there. What you have are the common / workhorse stamps of the era.

What a shame that the 1549a Registered label (last image, last row, Settle Wash) was not left on cover, it would have had significant value.

My opinion is that this is a potential start on a new hobby. A few items deserve closer examination but no high value items stand out.

the duck (hunting permit) stamp dates from 1940 and is valued unused hinged (as I assume yours is in that album) was $130 in my 2012 Scotts Specialized Catalogue. Someone with a new catalogue could give you an updated price

2016 Scott Specialized. Duck Stamp RW7. $105 unused hinged. $45 unused no gum.

Army franks are worth about $1 each at best.

KRelyea: Try as I might I can't locate the signature on that duck stamp. Please point it out if you will.

There is one possible (though quite unlikely) chance that the 8c Sherman Stamp could be a hidden find. If it's a 272 (has a double-line water mark), there could be a possibility of a USIR (instead of USPS) watermark on the stamp. I have uncovered 2 of these over the years. For it to count it has to have either the clear I (or enough of it to prove it's not a P) or R (Enough of it to prove it's not a P), and then it can be identified as a 272a, which carries a used CV of $1,000. However, it's not in great shape, so it would have a lower value. But that is the one with the greatest potential. Some slim chance on a couple of the Washington-Franklin as well, but unlikely.
The Army Frank is a well known Cinderella. Those appear to be stuck to page, so they won't have any notable value.

Just to make sure that you understand about catalog prices vs. selling prices, the duck stamp RW7 in unused hinged condition has sold for $21- $28 on ebay recently. The catalog price would be more like a retail store price.
