New From CA - Collect US (Classics, Bob, Stampless Covers) And Romania

Hello everyone,

I am Phil. I live on the Central Coast of California, but originally hail from Pennsylvania and arrived here by way of TX, RI, GA, VA, SC, MD, ... I did a career in the Navy. Currently a college professor.

Collected stamps as a kid. Set it aside for 30 years and then came back as an adult.

I collect U.S. stamps in general, but focus on the classics and back-of-the-book with particular emphasis on the Navy Department officials. I collect stampless free-franked covers from the Executive Branch of government, mainly from the departments of War, Navy and Treasury. And, after adopting a child from Romania, I collect Romania to honor him.

I expect to spend most of my time in the classics, BoB, and cover discussion boards. Happy to meet others from my part of the country.

Those are some awesome stamps and covers! Sounds like you've been a national traveler! Spent some time in Pennsylvania this summer: a really great state from what I saw, and hard to drive through when you have an old Honda Civic! What class/es do you teach as a professor?

Fini32, PA is difficult to drive across, with the exception of the interstates. Try driving diagonally across -- it's an adventure. I mainly teach public policy with some public budgeting and a little law.
