mdroth good point! I added a referral to Stamp Smarter and SCF on all my ebay auctions for 15 months. I list 60 items/week and get hundreds of views and in all that time I never got a single comment or question about either Website. Apparently a lot of folks just want to buy stamps and not try and learn about them.

How many people even read the first part of a description? If more did, more of my buyers would wait for an invoice before paying for multiple items. And more overseas customers would alert me before bidding so that I can give them details of postage costs.

Mdroth, I have in my defence only been an scf member for 7mths. Have only used the stampsmarter website a couple of times and was totaly unaware of the revue page. It is under "buying online" and have now found it by hitting that button for the very first time today. I used the link Don gave yesterday to go to the revue page and learned of its existance.

Generally I end up on the library page and sift through a few things and never used the buying online page as I have not bought anything online from any unknown person or from ebay stamps for years.

And generally I note that most SCF members post items and sellers and discuss them on the boards all the time. And I see as you mention that almost no one is putting anything up on that review page. Obviously, they are unaware and or it may be that some people may not want to be vocal, for fear of retaliation or being flamed.

As a suggestion only, to Don and crew if it is not overly burdening, maybe a link button to the review page could be put in the library about buying, selling, and reviews.

Obviously there are many, like myself, who are not fully aware of everything available on that site or have not been able to completly review all of its great content.

Mike

Mike -

You have no need to defend anything. My comment was not directed at you - it was about all of the rest of us that did know about it - and clearly have not gotten that knowledge out well enough.

Mdroth, ok, I may have got a little ahead of myself. I just saw my quote and thought, oh boy. I just have to remember Don's article about using the website. Write it and then read it before posting. That will give time for a second sober thought.

Anyway, maybe its a good thing we are discussing this in the forum. As we know other newer members will read it and now become aware of the existance of the webpage if they did not find it yet, and will remind others that it is available.

Hi Mike,
Stamp Smarter currently has over 2500 pages... if you only spent 1 minute reading each page you would have to spend almost two days reading without a break. You better get reading!

Thanks Don, can't read them all as I won't have enough time to have fun and explore and use this forum as well as spending time on my collection and in auctions. And I would not be able to take in all that information and process it all, in such a short time. And I need time for sleeping too! Like they say, "Rome was---" , you know full well.

Over 2500 and growing! Kudos!

This is in reply to; GeoffHa

Learning e-bay is harder than it looks and one thing that bothers me- well several- is that even when you have an agreement with the seller to wait for an invoice or another bidding, the e-bay will often send warnings to pay or something, anyway, that's about it. Nice postings and a lot to learn.

When I've received approval from a seller to hold off paying for multiple items until I'm done buying that week and he can get a combined shipping invoice to me, I just ignore ebay's messages about unpaid items. If ebay ever cancels the sales, I'll let the seller set them straight.
