Hi all,
I've come across a Cyprus Scott#295 cancelled in NSW Australia.
Does anyone have an idea on how this came to be?
Cheers!
Mick

Nope, I have nothing.
Most probably an EFO error freak or oddity,
I get mail from colleagues whom like to play jokes,
covers with cinderellas, or other countries mixed in with their country's stamps.
Other guess, maybe had a "Postage Due" aboard, and your stamp was hit with the canceller?

Interesting novelty piece for your album.

I agree with Bobby, this was most likely on a paquebot cover. A very simple and legitimate reason to find cancels from any country on the stamps of any other.

Could it be that the franking in the originating country missed the Stamp or was omitted, then a zealous APO sorter decide it should be cancelled?

Absolutely, however, on reflection, for me, Cyprus.... I think Bobby and John's suggestion has the highest merit. Paquebot, I had not considered that one.
