Hello
I have a couple of Colombian stamps from 1899, Scott's numbers 163 and 164. They are different from my others in that they have a purple five point star printed/stamped on them. I'm wondering if this has special meaning or is simply a postal cancellation.
Any help appreciated.

I believe these are cancels used by the town of Cartagena.
