The quantity of great stuff that Gross has is amazing.
Its fun to see it come out.

A sale for just top-tier multiples? Nuts.

I've already made my wish list. 2019 Scott cat values total $1,375,000. Now I just have to sell my wife on the deal. I suspect that considerable groveling plus a firm decision to immediately move to PA will be required. I'll try to sneak in a PB of the $1 without her seeing it, although that might have to wait until 2020.

Ooooh yummy, yummy.

Family'd kill me if I partook of any but the most inexpensive of these, I think. Maybe even then.

I wanted his 233a block. If I succeeded in selling the wife, I am sure I'd have no place to live and it would have nothing to do with money.

100k for it, seemed like a steal. I expect these rarities soar.

There is always the APS Home for Formerly Married Philatelists. The waiting list is quite long though.

Just think of all the fantastic stamps and postal history that Siegel has auctioned over just the last 20 years, never mind since it's founding. It boggles the imagination.

We are talking about private sales on another topic and it made me wonder how much of the Gross material was bought publicly vs privately? Does anyone have any info about this?

A great deal of his collection was acquired privately. The upcoming Siegel multiples sale of US stamps has a lot of 19th century material that was the John C Chapin collection and was acquired intact by Gross.
