Is This Green 1 Cent Washington A Scott 423 A?

What discovery have you done so far? A #423A has 12 x 10 perforations, what are the perforations of your stamp?

The perforations on your stamp are the same on every side, below I have taken the top perfs of your stamp and digitally aligned them to the three others sides. As you can see, they align perfectly, so the perfs are the same on each side.


Did you use a perf gauge or are you trying to count the perforations?

As Don points out, your perfs are the same on all sides.
The stamp isn't perf 12, but could be 10 or 11. Have you used a perforation gauge to measure the perf? (Counting the tips or valleys is not effective).
This looks to me like perf 11, which would give you the following possibilities:

But you have to determine if its printing type (Flat, Rotary or Offset).
If it's pref 10 then

In any case, if it's perf 10, all of these are common.

A potential issue with the well-intentioned replies in this thread, and other replies in this forum directed to beginners, is the use of shorthand references to perforation measurements, such as "12 x 10 perforations" or "perf11," omitting the word "gauge". A phrase such as "perforations of gauge 10" or "gauge 12 x gauge 10" helps communicate the idea that you do not count the number of holes or tips on the stamp, you must determine the gauge, defined as number of perforation holes in 2 centimeters. In this case it appears that the OP has been counting the number of holes per side rather than understanding the concept of gauge.
