Yesterday I was by a stamp dealer. And I saw this covers. They look genuine the dealer whant 50 USD each. He cant say me which type of stationery they are. They are opened no letter inside.
Did you think the price is justified and which type of stationerys they are. Thanks a lot.
Add: I just phoned with the guy. I purchased it for 120 USD for the whole bunch. I think its a fair deal.

Quote: they look like dollar-box covers to me can you explain why? But I think you are right, made I guess a bad purchase. Only a few of the stationeries are rare. The stationery covers are for me challenging to asses their rarity. Wich exact colour has the stamp, more value if unused or circulated than which type of paper envelopes...too much variables and no literature abouth stationeries avaiable (in the internet). |

First of all, why pay all that money for something you are unfamilar with? You could have done some reseach on Don's website, Stamp Smarter.com, as well as posting a picture of the items here for second opinions and a rough valuation for the material in question.
I am sure you would have received several opinions, as for catalogue #'s and value. Destination, cancellation or other markings scarcity, or lack thereof. Then you could have made an educated bid on the items.
As I do not collect this particular material, I have no idea as to the value of it. Having said that, he must have had a reason for placing such values on these items. I would go back and talk with him about any concerns you have or that you may have overpaid or that the items in question were truly overvalued. The good ones will work with you to resolve problems as they do want repeat customers and not lose a source of income.
"If" you were dealth with unfairly and taken advantage of by an unscrupulous dealer that belongs to any philatelic organization, you can put in a complaint to that organization.

I paid only 7 Dollars . I putted the high number to make the thread more interesting. My idea was, that the experts of stationery would take a closer look when I paid more. Sorry I apologize. Good idea from you. |

But more importantly, giving the lot a false information may lead members here to ignore your posts. |

Phil is correct about people ignoring your future posts because you were so dishonest with us. There was no need to do that - folks here try to give their best responses even on dollar box items. |

Ok1. Man, that was just being totaly deceitful and disrespectful of the good people who created this site for the purposes of sharing and learning information. It also wastes mine and others time in trying to offer help in responding to ficticious trolls. People are using this site to learn about what they do not know, and often offer up information to assist others with their knowledge about what they do know. Occassionaly people may inadvertently give wrong information, but it is usually soon corrected by someone more knowledgable, or starts a respectful discussion about why the difference of opinion. Myself being just one of the many. I enjoy using this site, having discussions, learning new things, having a laugh at some funny posts and having fun with them. I think I have said more than enough. But this sort of thing just plainly makes no sense and if it was up to me as a moderator, you would either be red flagged or just plain be "outta here." |
