Looking for a topic I can almost guarantee you will never complete..try the New York 1939 Worlds Fair of the 1933 Chicago Century of Progress. I collect covers and postally used postcards of both. I am stuck with the New York Worlds fair because of my roots and I like the tie in with the APS sheets for the Century of Progress !

I vaguely recall a thread here couple months ago about someone who bought an old World's Fair album of world wide issues; that also included some related stuff in the same time frame. It caught my eye as he had almost every issue except the Portuguese colonial overprints. If you branch out beyond the US items, bear in mind that forgeries do exist of those colonial overprints.

I agree philb, you will never complete the topics you mentioned. However, it is fun trying.

Also for 1939, there was the royal visit if the King and Queen and they made a stop in at the 1939 NYWF from Hyne 8th to the 11th. These are a problem for me because I have to decide if I put the cover(s) in my 1939 NYWF album or the 1939 RV album.

There are so many cachets, labels and stickers also for all these events as well and I doubt if you can complete them.

Have you seen the "United States Promotional Slogan Cancellations Catalog by Robert Payne. It has a good listing of the New York Worlds Fair. It's availble from the Machine Cancel Society.

The New York World's Fair ran from April 30, 1939 to October 27, 1940, in 2 seasons:
Season 1: April 30 - October 31 1939
Season 2: May 11 - October 27 1940

So, you like the Century of Progress, eh?

Here's a great item from that.

It's the Zephyr Train postcard.

However, this is even a bit more interesting. I'll let everyone look it over and tell me why they think it might be better than just an unused postcard of the same design.
