I looked in the catalogs (stampworld, Scott and SG) under India feudatory and convention states, but couldn't find it. Is it possible that it issued only revenue stamps and that's why it is not in the regular catalogs?

You may find Judicial stamps going back into the 1800's ,that was the only department that was allowed under British control . Then after about 1914 you should find other types of revenue stamps up until they joined India in the 1950's . But no postage stamps. |

Here are two nice examples of Sikkim revenue stamps posted by the great Indian States collector "tonymacg" on another bulletin board: |

Speaking of it, what would be the reasonable price for the stamp bellow? I saw it on ebay offered for 40$ plus shipment, while I got mine buying 1200 different stamps for 20$ including shipment. Also, I saw the same stamp with overprint "revenue" - if it's already a revenue stamp, why the overprint? |

The Sikkim revenues are fairly common. I'm not sure of their market value, but $40 seems way too high in my opinion.
The "Revenue" overprint was probably added in order to make sure that the stamps are not used for postal purposes. The Isle of Man did something similar in the 1960s - they had a set of revenue stamps which were not inscribed "Revenue", so they were overprinted accordingly to prevent postal use. |

Nice revenues, these stamps may be in greater demand from those who collect "A stamp from everywhere " if they can't get a postage stamp a revenue would be in demand . |

Quote: Regarding the currency, I saw this stamp once in Paise, and once in Naye Paise. Any idea what's the difference? When India switched from pre-decimal pies, annas and rupees to the decimal paisa and rupees, the paisa was initally called "naye paisa", ie. new paisa. After a few years the currency was simply called "paisa". Likewise, when Britain went from pence, shillings and pounds to decimal pence and pounds, the pence were initially called "new pence" for a few years. |

One can settle for Sikkim postmarks on stamps of India. This one here is on a cover sent on an experimental rocket, and also has a Sikkim cinderella. |
