Pricey Fleetwood Cover From 1977 On Ebay?

I must be missing something ... there are 27 bids on this Fleetwood cover being offered on ebay.

It is U.S. 50th Anniversary of Talking Pictures stamp.

It does have a four-stamp plate block - but $51?

What am I missing?

I do not know but it is really only two bidders and the high bidder has bid a lot in the past 30 days with this seller. A heck of a lot.

The seller is very popular, high volume seller with over 3,000 followers. As for the bidding some just don't want to lose.

Yeah, that one is a bit unusual, but this is where topicals and FDC merge. The commemorative actually had a relatively low print run. So FDC Plate Blocks (which Scott does not track) have an ambiguous value. This particular cachet is a whole other matter as well, and probably more about the Fleetwood than it is about the particular block, though the two are inexorably linked.

Interesting. I collect topics and this stamp is actually a bit on target to one of my areas - but $51 seems so incredibly high. More than my wallet allows on this for sure.
