A common occurrence actually. Usually someone has taken the trouble to do the repairs, but many 19th century tobacco strips have been pieced together.

It's not like it's being offered at an insane price either, and it's accurately described. Sorry Jim, I don't see the issue here. If someone wants an example on the cheap that likely will look decent once reconstructed, this wouldn't be a bad route to go.

For M&Ms, taxpaids, and other deep back of book where the stamps were frequently destroyed via usage, I don't think this is out of the ordinary. If this were a 1st issue revenue, that would be a different matter...

I have a few crazy private die like that... one of which carries a $1,600 CV. It's near impossible to find in any condition.
