Boston Carrier Markings?

The cover shown has two markings that I assume are related to the mail carrier who delivered the letter. What I find interesting is that the marking on front, in red, with initials "B.D." , which I suspect probably identifies the carrier who handled the letter, is time stamped at 9 A.M., while the marking on the reverse is dated 10AM.

I would have expected the timestamps in the reverse order. First the back stamp which identified when the letter reached the carrier division, then the second one when it made its way to the carrier.

Where is my thinking going wrong?
