Have a nice 1867 1st National Bank of Helena (Montana Territory). Is was written and signed by Nicholas Kessler- this was the 2nd brewery in Montana. If you ever need Brewery information you want a book called American Breweries II - which is also online at TavernTrove.com.

So, it has a 2c Bank Check stamp that should be an R2 R6? perhaps. But this is NOT an orange stamp. It is not even close. Maybe you could say brown on orange paper? I have not touched the color or contrast after scanning it -the ink might be a shade darker in person.

Am I correct in thinking there are no Bank Check stamps after the 1st issues? If so then I am stumped. Thanks, RnC

This stamp has a minor double transfer in the bottom of BANK CHECK, most noticeable and the B, A, N, and E. Also a bit at the top of the US at the top. Nice territorial usage.
