I wonder if anyone has ever completed one of the Globals.
Oh, certainly -- there are a few collectors who have 99% completed the
Brown Internationals, collections that are generally just missing ultra-rarities of or approaching the caliber of British Guiana 13 or Mauritius 1-2. Considering Brownies have spaces for inverted centers and errors of color as well as most of the major numbers (less some watermark/perf distinctions), that's one heck of an accomplishment.
The best WW collection I ever got to see in person started with
all of the Afghanistan lion heads -- including plated pane reconstructions for each and every issue! There aren't even spaces for these stamps in the Brownies (just a blank page for you to mount examples) and this collection started with nearly two hundred pages of them. This wasn't the Tapling collection or anything, just some enthusiast with lots and lots of time and money; instead of golfing he liked to accumulate rare stamps. Kind of puts things in perspective.
I'm looking forward to seeing inside this album. Chunky album collections are
always fun, there are always surprises, and a chunky Master Global is going to be better than most. Master Globals are much better albums than blue Int'ls in terms of coverage, even if the crowded layout turns a lot of people off.
