This just arrived and it is one of the most stuffed albums I have handled. It stops in the late 40's early 50's and not too many spaces are empty. In fact there are all kinds of things added in. An incredible achievement by the previous owner and obviously a labor of love over the course of many, many years. I had to share because these types of things are what I live for. Incredibly exciting. As I start exploring I will share some images.

Envy is a wicked mistress,
she made a fleeting visit, when I read your post.

Do you think the original owner collected as received (stuffed in one binder)? It just seems a very inconvenient way to collect. All those stamps but did not want to get more binders?

Hard to say what the method to the madness was. It seems like they were determined to complete the task of filling every hole and along the way they added whatever they came across that they felt needed to be there. There are very, very few empty spaces. A quick flip through last night revealed unmounted blocks of Silver Weddings loose in between pages etc.. Everything is neatly hinged in, square and true. I am starting to feel hesitant about disturbing it at all. It is quite amazing and it is completely unpicked. So hard to find anything truly intact anymore.

Would love to see images of some of the pages.

We know that a number of people have completed the Scott International (Blue) equivalent of the Minkus Master and Supreme global albums. I wonder if anyone has ever completed one of the Globals. Sounds like this collector got close.

I'll second that - any chance of a couple of photos of album pages? Just curious to see what's inside.

Wow - I would love to see some pics too.

I suggested in one of my blogs that the Master would be a great one volume solution for the WW collector.

Looks like it has been done here.

Oh, certainly -- there are a few collectors who have 99% completed the Brown Internationals, collections that are generally just missing ultra-rarities of or approaching the caliber of British Guiana 13 or Mauritius 1-2. Considering Brownies have spaces for inverted centers and errors of color as well as most of the major numbers (less some watermark/perf distinctions), that's one heck of an accomplishment.

The best WW collection I ever got to see in person started with all of the Afghanistan lion heads -- including plated pane reconstructions for each and every issue! There aren't even spaces for these stamps in the Brownies (just a blank page for you to mount examples) and this collection started with nearly two hundred pages of them. This wasn't the Tapling collection or anything, just some enthusiast with lots and lots of time and money; instead of golfing he liked to accumulate rare stamps. Kind of puts things in perspective.

I'm looking forward to seeing inside this album. Chunky album collections are always fun, there are always surprises, and a chunky Master Global is going to be better than most. Master Globals are much better albums than blue Int'ls in terms of coverage, even if the crowded layout turns a lot of people off.
