It looks like this is one pane of four (all different, all windows) packaged inside a booklet. I base this on a current ebay listing as a BIN for the booklet, and not on any particular knowledge. Nice designs. Collin |

You're right, the original stamps are, Collin. This is a limited edition reproduction on a sheet. I think it was for a charity or something. I'm hoping Michael (LondonBus) will know more. |

I see from the original stamps' 1973 listing in Scott that each of the twelve stamps represents one tribe of Israel. The ebay listing is for the 1987 limited edition of 750. Booklet #571 is on offer. Your pane is perfed on the right edge, which looks like where it may have been attached to the booklet. (?) Michael can come around after he's fully recovered from his festivities and answer this. I'm just playing detective and learning about something I've never looked up before. (And may never use again...isn't that the nature of our hobby?) Collin |

Stamp collectors usually are storage sheds full of otherwise useless information. Thanks for your detective work. You've done more looking than I have. I guess I was just taking the easy way out! |

Greg those Chagall windows stamps were quite common..unless you really need the 1 of 750 sheet !! I thought you were just starting out with Israel..sounds like you are getting exotic !! |

OK Collin - since you inspired/shamed me, and since my wife and I decided it was cold enough to play hooky from church, I've done a little looking myself.
You're right of course, the pane is from a booklet of reproductions (the first I've ever seen) and the BIN price of $35 for the entire booklet means it's not worth anything substantial.
Chagall was an amazing artist and had quite a body of work. I wouldn't mind having two or three of his pieces on the wall, but then I'd have to take down my entire collection of velvet paintings of dead rock stars - Elvis, Joplin, Hendrix, etc. |

Now there's a stamp idea for one of the Stampistan countries...an Elvis stamp in velvet.
Or did Ajman already do that one?

I guess my wife handles what goes up on the walls..in the 70's I thought of mounting my 45/70 Govt carbine..the one that jammed on Custers troops with the copper cartridges..that was quickly voted down !! |
