Hi

Yesterday I purchased a small lot of Canadian Stamps. In this lot there were a number of booklets from 1972 of Tagged Canadian Stamps. I am not familiar with this aspect of philately. Checked Wiki and found some info:

"The first tagged stamps of Canada were issued in 1962 with vertical phosphorescent bands. In 1972, fluorescent general tagging was introduced, initially as vertical bars, now normally on all four sides of the stamp."

As these booklets are from 1972 I do not know which type of tagging was used or even if it matters to a collector. Is this issue of importance?

The lot had a few good stamps. One buried in the box:

Have you put the stamp under UV to see which tagging it has?

If I had to describe the color I'd call it Brown Red. Much darker than the perf variety. The back of the imperf has a hinge I'd like to soak off.

The booklets came in a cellophane package of 10 booklets

The booklets in the cellophane package have a transportation motif. Probably have upwards of 50 booklets in this lot.

If it is BROWN/RED..That would make it a Scott 4a.

BTW..Those booklets are covered..great, keep them.

Gee, when you look at that front left side of the stamp in the picture where it is above the 5 cent, it almost looks like it was used as a pin cushion. Almost looks like pinholes, possibly from the owner originally pinning up the letter repeatedly through the stamp?

No holes there. Just ink spots.

Gettinold, ok. I did blow it up to look again and I was looking more towards the top half starting just above that cancel. To me it sure does appear to have a row of at least 4 paper indentations in margin followed by 2 or more and a pinhole across from the 3. Still not a bad copy as it is not cut into at margins or torn and it is not a heavy cancel.
