Or back-side, underside?

As I scan my purchased stamps into inventory I like inspecting the different conditions of the backs. The variety of things these poor stamps have gone through is impressive. Some of them are even burn victims.

"Burn victims"

Not too sue of that from what I see. That bottom left stamp in 3rd row appears to be toning, tropical staining, rust, or in other words fungus. Isolate it from the rest as it will spread to others over time, faster in humid climates.

1st stamp in first row. Met Life perfin.
3rd stamp 3rd row, not able to determine, looks like pacman perfin.

Either one of those conditions sound pretty bad.

I do believe there IS a "dark side." I bought a world album once at auction and when I took it home found every stamp had its Scott # written on the back in ball point pen. The collection was therefore worthless. For the life of me I cannot understand what would lead someone to do that.
