I was looking at this on e-bay. Paper looks UN-blue to me. Not even a hint of grey from what I see. Any input?
Thanks

Their scans are worthless and given who the seller is I would steer well clear. The genuine article is not rare and is readily available for short money. It always amazes me why people continue to support NYStamps.

At SCADS (Stamp Collectors Against Dodgy Sellers), we identified NYStamps as an untrustworthy seller nearly 20 years ago. They constantly misidentified US classic stamps as always the more expensive variety, sold lots and lots of fake Washington/Franklin "coils" as genuine, fake 315s, and more.

Believe it or don't, after we called them out for it, they actually started to clean up their act but I haven't followed them in years.

For your future reference, here is a site that has large beautiful color pictures of all US/UK stamps, including many of the back of the book stamps, up until about 1956, with a wealth of information on each. They also have tutorials on fakes, spotting cancel removals (which I authored). There are also many of my graphics on how to tell the various varieties apart on early US classics. He also has a long listing of ebay stamp sellers that will tell you who you can trust and who you can't.

This is an award winning site, one of the best on the internet. Bookmark it because you will refer to it often.

Identifying dishonest sellers is important work. The worst are the sellers that have managed to gain a better reputation than they deserve.

Can't bookmark what I can't find. You tell us of a site but then fail to provide either the name or a URL. Perhaps you pressed "submit" too soon?

Best practice is to join and be a member for a few weeks before you start prompting your website.

Was curious, so checked out this site - scads.org. That site is about dodgy stamp sellers on ebay, but it dates from the early 2000s and doesn't appear to have been updated since 2007. Unless there is some other site being referred to by the SCADS poster above, not much useful there.
