I had to show this item. Maybe it's a clever title because it caught my eye;

Looks like this collection needs to be quarantined.

As long as the Doctor wasn't practicing in tropical infectious disease, I'd take a look.

Any biologist philatelist ever drop an oldxstamp in a dish of agarose to see what would grow?

In spite of the fact that certain death will result upon receiving this collection, I found myself preoccupied with trying to determine if the good Dr's name is "Very".

I hope it's been fumigated! The best part of this listing is there is only 1 picture and it estimates there are between 25,000 and 100,000 stamps. It amazes me what people put up on ebay, either they don't have a clue or they think all us Stamp folks are rich idiots.

I'm pretty sure the seller made an error here and it should read "deceased" instead of "diseased."

Still, a pretty funny error.

One can only hope. Otherwise avoid at all costs and hope that the diseased Dr Very was properly cremated as should have been his entire collection as a medical precaution.

How can this collection be shipped by "first class package" when the post office's limit for such parcels is 12 ounces!!!

I wrote the seller the following. "Most people selling things for $1800 will at least post a dozen or so clear pictures. Can you do that? Open the cigar boxes, take photos of the oldest stamps in each album, lay the baggies out. You just don't show any stamps. No one is going to give you any real offers. Give yourself a chance to sell the stuff. Please." He replied "Thanks brother I'm going to relist it the right way"
I am now fascinated, but not very hopeful, as to how he is going to re-list it.

There's quite a few of those listings around. Maybe the sellers think pictures of albums and boxes will get people to fork out thousands of dollars, without caring about what is actually in those albums & boxes... Could work if you happened to be a box and binder collector I guess!

I have done my bit for good ebaying, however, if I lived in Iowa, I might just drive over and see if this pile of albums was worth taking pictures of.

Sound like, what I can tell from the picture you get two wooden cigar boxes ,a package of hinges full or maybe empty and some modern U.S. COVERS , you can bet anyone who buys expensive stamps puts them in sandwich plastic bags .
