I picked up this 'ugly' Sc 525 as it just looked the part. After receiving it I am leaning towards it being a forgery. What say ye? And is there any market for them other than the one I just created?
I've never seen a 525 so heavily inked, but I agree with the others. The inclusions visible in the paper on the reverse scan shows the paper making this stamp is the typical paper for the issue. A very interesting variety!!!
Just curious, would you say this was: Grey Green, Emerald Green or Dark Green (the 3 Scott choices for this stamp)? My eyes say the one on the left is the Emerald Green variety, but the right one?
I am no expert. I think the one on the left looks like a forgery. His scarf button is low compared to the ribbon, his smile seems exaggerated and his eyes seem lazy and sly. And, his neck looks too thick. Maybe it's just my dental appointment having an effect.
