I think this is correctly identified as Spain Scott number 251. It is mint with the one exception of the HOLE in it. Why would that have been punched like that? $2200.00 to zero in a nano second!

probably a remainder and invalidated for use. One of the reasons a stamp without a hole might be so valuable.

Wheelman,
Opinion : Telegraph cancellation, appears common.
Telegraph punctures.

Unsure if these were punctured as issued, or punctured on telegraph sheet,
the consistency of the area of puncture, would suggest the former.

Used for telegraph service ,inventory at the Telegraph offices was not as tight and watched as the post office so a lot of inventory just disappeared .

Suggest it is still a telegraph puncture,
specialists would advise if there was a dual post and telegraph office in WAIUKU in 1899, I'd suggest there was.
