I am trying to identify some 50p Machins and get some conflicting information from Adminware's site and SG.

SG states X922 is a 2 band ochre from the London Life prestige booklet. SG does not identify as redrawn (T 367a) since not noted.

Adminware lists this a 50p sand with image of redrawn type (narrow currency). The Prestige booklet is listed as 2 band.

I also have a dealer price sheet that states X922 is redrawn.

The stamp I listed as x922 is a 2 band.

This also calls into question to what I identified as X994. None on the bottom row a 2 band.

I think this is correct:

First issue from 1977 is the lighter one with the wide value (four examples of which, you have in your scan). SG lists as "ochre-brown" and Adminware list as "ochre".

This stamp with two bands = X921
And with no bands, = X992 (appeared in 1980)

The darker stamp with the narrow value is a separate issue. It first appeared in 1990. SG lists as "ochre" (just to confuse us!) and Adminware calls it "sand".

This stamp with two bands = X922
And with no bands = X994

So the one you have labelled as X922 is incorrect - that's the number for a "sand"-coloured one.

The "ochre-brown" stamp only exists with wide value type, and the "sand" one (or "ochre", as SG would say) only exists with narrow value. Thats why SG doesn't mention it being re-drawn. They are separate issues, and neither exists in both types.

I don't know all the minutiae of the various printers, gum types and what-have-you when it comes to specialised Machins, but hopefully this is of some help.

Thanks. I am using a 2008 SG so maybe the detail improved later.

Using the above criteria,

Top row, X921, X921 (both have 2 bands)
Bottom row: X992, X992, X994 (all no bands)

I purchased a 2018 and now they list x994 as 75p gray black. I checked a dealer price sheet and it matches the 2018 Concise so now searching for the new number.

There is a new number 991a from 2008 Concise but not shown as a Type 2.
