French Postal Rates-Domestic & Internationl

The red stamp is for letters up too 20g.The green stamp is the same thing ,but takes
(in theory 1 day more).the purple stamp 20g for international.There used to be a tarif
for europe but has been englobed in the international rate. (Rate.Domestic:1.05euro_Intl.:1.30euro)

So domestic 2nd class up to 100 gms is 61p, 1st class 70p, which is a little cheaper than yours, although the rates increase for a "large" letter (judged by weight and size).

High compensation for loss & damage…( In case of loss do you have to provide a receipt or something in proof of the value?)

I've never had to use it - I could envisage its being difficult to prove the value of what was in the envelope/parcel, though. Fortunately, the postal service has, in general, been very reliable over the last few years, with the occasional disaster

Fortunately, I'm in south-west, not south-east, London!

Dedicated post offices of the kind one finds in France are less and less common here - often part of small supermarkets now, as my local one is.
