Scott Catalogue Watermark Sequencing

So I'm looking to confirm that I have this correct - in trying to determine watermarks for catalogue entries in Scott - Scott no. 366-84, Germany. According to germanstamps.net they have wmk 2 X. In the Scott catalogue there is no wmk for this series - you have to go back to no. 337 (Scott 2019 vol. 3A) to get wmk 126 - which looks to me to be the vertical of the Michel horizontal actually listed for this particular stamp - another confusion. The question -

In Scott, do watermark listings just keep on carrying forward until the next listed watermark entry or Unwmk, regardless of stamp? For example - Scott 330 has listed Wmk 126. There is not a different Wmk listed until Scott 415, Wmk 237 with listings in between the two with no Wmks listed. So everything in between is a Wmk 126 because there are no other listings and no Unwmk listed either.

Yes, that's correct. And it's not just watermarks that carry forward. This is all mentioned in the introduction part in the front of all Scott volumes.

It can be confusing since perforations, etc. can carry forward too.

got it now. I read and re-read the front, but I guess I was concentrating more on the bold 10 on page 16A describing the CHANGES IN BASIC SET INFORMATION instead of the bold 5, BASIC INFORMATION ON STAMP OR SET, which actually describes the methodology. Missed it more than once.

Now I just have to find the part that describes Pref. 14, 14 1/2 vs 14 x 14 1/2. I know the later. Guessing that it means the stamp will be in either a 14 alll the way around or 14 1/2 all the way around.

I have the same question about perforation in Scott. I understand 14 x 14 ½, but what does 14, 14 ½ mean? Can't find an answer in Scott, and my guess has been the same as yours. Need confirmation.

If I recall correctly, 14, 14 ½ means that it comes both 14x14 and 14 ½x14 ½. It would say "and compound" if it came 14x14 ½ in any way.
