I had purchased stamps from two different ebay sellers in late 2018 and I did not receive them until very recently in 2019 which is a delay of at least five months. I believe that this may have been somewhat caused by the rotating Canada Post strike from around that time. The sellers both refunded what I had paid for my purchases when I told them that I did not receive from them the items several months ago. What should I do now? Should I pay them for the items? What would you do?

Of course I would pay them. Sellers come up on the short end way too many times to add to it. |

100% agree, not seller's fault they were tied up in the mail.
They were good enough to refund since it was assumed they were lost.
Now they are no longer lost, they need to be paid for.

Absolutely agree with the others. Paying the seller is just the right thing to do. |

I agree with the others, you should contact the seller and arrange to make payment.
You received the merchandise you originally paid for, and it does not appear that the delay was due to the seller in any way.
Anything else just seems wrong in my opinion.

Years ago I bought a Space Needle Pepper Mill from a craftsman in WA (Maple wood mill - beautiful!). After a month it hadn't arrived, USPS had no idea of its whereabouts, so he sent me a new one. Pretty expensive item. A month after I get the new one, the first one finally showed up. The guy was so nice about it, I sent the original back to him at my own cost. Gotta protect the small businessmen! |

There are few situations in life, that allows us to confirm the honesty of man. Grab this with both hands. Contact and Pay up, and bask in the delight of improved self esteem, and the passing on to two other souls.
Reminds me of the recent fellow whom gave his last $20 to a lass for fuel, (That turned out to be a scam) but the response from the public was huge. Good stories are few and far between these days.

Should you even have to ask? It's not the seller's fault that the post office took so long to deliver your stamps, pay them! |

As with most ethical questions I suspect that few people, if anyone, is willing to publicly announce that they would behave unethically. In reality, there are some folks who would indeed pocket the money, some may even virtual signal that they wouldn't but indeed still take advantage of the situation. This type question is best asked anonymously (i.e. SCF poll) if more accurate result are desired. Don |
