Need Help, Info For My 5¢ #12, Violet Color. Winged Globe, Case Of The Missing Perfs.

Does anyone have any Info why there is no Perfs on the Left Side, and what looks to be like a violet line on the very left edge is?

Any Info is appreciated.

All of the older US stamp issues come with straight edge varieties -- they just come from the edge of the sheet.

US collectors don't like them very much, presumably because of the obsession with centering.

I Researched Photos online, all the stamps, on the edge of the sheets have Perfs.

It seems like to me, on this Particular stamp, the sheets and all other info/photos I researched all have perfs.
If anyone knows of a photo of a 5 Cents winged globe that is similar to the one I posted please let me know.

Your stamp, C12, was printed on a flat plat press in press-sheets of 200, and cut along the inked guidelines into panes of 50 for retail sale. Your stamp is identical to those in the left-hand column of the pane below and contains a natural straight edge and part of the guide line. Very common. Borrowed from ebay:




In contrast, C16 was printed on a rotary press also in press-sheets of 200 cut into panes of 50 for retail sale. One obvious visual difference is the selvage on all 4 sides of these rotary-printed pane, thus all C16 stamps are fully perforated. Borrowed from ebay:
