What To Do With Duplicated Stamps

Hello!
I know this is avery common topic on collectors, but anyway, I´m thinking on what to do.
This is my situation, similar to many other's collectors.
I usually buy lots of stamps, usually mounted on stockbooks, preprinted albums, shoeboxes, glassines...
I store them in my albums (I use stockbook as normal way of collecting stamps).
In my stockbooks, I put toghether all the stamps, the main one, an the duplicated.
If have, for instance, four stamps of the same item, I simply put them toghether.
I do this to upgrade the stamp with the best quality item.
Whenever a new item enters, the best quality one, substitutes the previous one (I collect used).

Well, now the question.
When I buy a preprinted, I simply take the stamps I don´t have, and I´m wondering if it is better to refill the album with duplicates to sell altoghether as a lot, or maybe is is better to exchange one by one the remaining stamps.
I think it is better to sell collections (incomplete collections) than sell stamps.
Would you mount with your duplicated stamps incomplete collections of stamps on preprinted old albums(or even in Steiner pages) to sell them as lots?
Or would you exchange/sell them one by one.
Same posibility with old stockbooks?
I guess it is easier to sell ordered material rather than bulk material, and the price you can get is higher.
For me is no extra work, because I already have the duplicated ordered by year.

Every collector does it different ,there is no right answer .

My views have changed. I collect one country seriously and the world "for fun".
In 2018, I bought around 14,000 stamps via kiloware. That's a lot of duplication.
Also in 2018, I sent 50 or 100 stamps as a "trade" with 19 collectors around the world. In return I received stamps (sometimes very good stamps) from 8 of these folks. I will not speculate on why that is. Nor would I encourage speculation. But 19=8 is a statistic and it is a statistic that says if you want to grow your collection of stamps, "trading" is a very bad business model. So "trading" duplicates is now something I just wont do.
Necessarily kiloware stamps are not always top quality. They are not really re-sale material, even if I was minded to become a wheeler-dealer.
Re-cycling kiloware back to a charity or to a different one is problematic.
Personally I believe that if there is still a good proportion of stamps that will satisfy a collector, then they can be re-cycled. But there is always a high proportion of very common stamps that are no good to a charity and that means they should be destroyed and I burn stamps two or three times a year.
I have however kept and mounted entire pages of duplicates in my specialised country. I think it adds depth and context.

Q/ Is this true?

On the one hand, the prospective buyer can better evaluate the lot, and higher confidence should lead to a higher bid.

On the other hand, the prospective buyer might be motivated by the treasure hunting hormone, in which case disorganization creates the opportunity for inopportune hope.

Q/ So which strategy gets the best price?

nothing ever beats selling one by one - but it requires time (and I personally find it very boring)

I'm working my way through large piles of duplicates. My main motivation lies in getting rid of things, rather than squeezing out every last penny - the idea of scanning and selling individual stamps, unless they're scarce, fills me with horror. My rough method has been to group by country/area, then pull out the UM and M and sell those, then do job lots of the remaining duplicated used stamps - usually around 500-1,500 per lot. I start at a low auction price, and everything goes. I can now see daylight - well, I can see the carpet on the landing where stock-books used to sit.

I use mine mostly for trading but I found out that the RPSC is low on circuit books so my latest mission has been getting some of my better spares ready to send them.

I also do Give aways once in a while one this forum.

Timm and BFRomeos, Thanks for the information. I might just order a few stockbooks and send them their way as a donation. They sure deserve it.

Thanks for the address of the VA facility that accepts stamp donations. I will put it to good use.

My local stamp club collects donations from members and forwards them to the veterans. I have donated thousands of stamps to them and not just cheap commons but values up to $50.00 catalogue value per stamp.

My unwanted stuff goes to the Rocky Mountain Philatelic Library to be re-circulated in their bulk lot auctions. In the past year, I've given them 30 single-country manila folders of stamps.

Igrodri: since you live in Spain, these resources in the US may not be real helpful. You might consider school kids as a possibility.

I, too, have bought a lot of stamps in bulk which yields a lot of duplications. I keep the best of the lot (sometimes 2 or 3 of a particular stamp), then I give much of what's left to the students that I work with (elementary school age), as I encourage them to begin stamp collecting for themselves. Some of my extra I trade for things I need.
