Please give me opinion of the color; I don't have great pics to refer to and the measurement seems wrong. (19mmx21.5mm no WM, perf 11). The perf says a 518. Is it 518a or 518b, I can not tell. Need sanity check.

The color of a used stamp is probably badly influenced by the environment - pretty hard to tell what it is or originally was. Also, the awful green background does not help much. Do you not have a piece of black paper ?

clearly a violet brown. If you look at any of the fine lines with strong glass of about 10x or stronger, the violet will be visible at the edges of the design areas.

Look in the mid section from left to right in both pics, it seems to get some violet color in his hair and adjacent background. Perhaps the heavy cancellation itself has darkened part of it to appear to a darker shade of brown.

I agree now that I see violet. I should have noticed right away.
