Sheesh! optical illusion, I have looked at this for some time, I just saw / realised the text is in squashed BOLD, I had thought it was 1 1 D ?

Rod, just on a Google search I found a wikimedia post at https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/...9_-_5482.jpg

Scott 2018 Mexico Catalog confirms your assumption as a Sc# 149 Ultra. Though, this morning i'm having a tough time getting anything to work. Hopefully there is someone else on SCF that can provide a screen shot of the catalog.

Thanks Moyock.
I always have problems with blues.
I took the old chestnut, that any example is usually the least valuable.

see, in this example I would have blue and slate blue transposed for my interpretation.

Rod, I concur. I've not got a lot of confidence in the quality of early Mexico stamps. I've noticed that historic stamp documentation is lacking, most of the catalogs like Roberts and Scott pretty much copy the original 1915 A. Forbin.
I'm willing to bet that there are a gazillion forgeries out there yet unidentified.

I would agree with ultramarine. The densest parts of inking is where I'm looking.
