I know it is from plate one, but what is the 1055-K designation..?

As far as I know they relate to the order or authority given to the printers to produce the stamps. I am sure there is a correct term for these - probably "order number"

For example with the KG6 definitive 3c rose violet you can get the same order mumber with 2 differnt plate numbers plate 26 - 1062, plate 27 1062 and then a differnt order number for the following plates 28 - 1149, plate 29 - 1149 etc.
